05 03 2010

Today's image is a screen share which actually shows that at 8.45 pm on a Friday evening I was still catching up with a little work..... I have stopped now, honestly.
This week was a momentous one for pj23harry as it has been the first week since the Christmas break that I have actually managed a whole week in work... not a bad record, but there have been various reasons for my taking half days and weeks off over the past weeks, I guess that this had to happen sooner or later.

Wales was to be seen in glorious Technicolor today as the sun shone brightly.

The picture today is of a plane heading west into the sunset without a cloud in the sky.

03 03 2010

Sadly there is not a picture of me at the IB Salsa class today......maybe next week?

Today was the start of digital switchover here and at 7.45 I had a call from Emily to tell me that their digital Freeview tuner had worked perfectly. The same was true at my parents house where they had also arranged over the weekend to have someone come to fit an aerial and freeview box to their upstairs TV ..... octogenarians in action!

02 03 2010

A beautiful vase of daffodils in Maesygwartha this afternoon, slightly late for Saint David's Day but adding colour to 3 Ivy Cottages.

An important day approaches the South East corner of Wales as tomorrow 3 March they will shut-down to Wenvoe Analogue TV mast and we will from then on be dependent on Digital TV, the big switchover will begin with the loss of BBC2 tomorrow and in 29 days time the remaining terrestrial analogue signals will disappear after 46 years of service. We retain analogue radio until the switch off in 2015

01 03 2010 - Dydd Gwyl Dewi Sant

Dydd Gwyl Dewi Sant ( Happy St David's Day)

To celebrate St David's Day for the past seven years there has been a parade through the centre of our capital city Cardiff ( Caerdydd). This year's parade lead by the flag bearer above contained Pipers, a New Orleans style brass band followed by Mardi Gras performers and then the massed ranks of school children and other supporters.

It was a beautiful day with Cardiff looking its best.....
Happy Saint David's Day to all....... hwyl fawr!

28 02 2010 (59/365)

Perhaps now at the end of month two of the 12 month challenge and 59 days into the 365 it would be a good point to reflect on what has happened to date. I am sure that others will have faced difficulties both personal and professional over the past two months, we wouldn't be human if this wasn't the case. I have added a photograph taken this afternoon of Jaycob giving his mum flowers as a 'thank you' for all that she has done for him over his recent difficulties, I just love the look on his face..... it is priceless.
I also want to add here the a little praise of my own, Emily, who did bring some things on herself in becoming pregnant at such a young age putting us her parents through a very difficult time as she appeared to be determined to do things her way ( understatement!).
Teenage mums have a very bad press which is to a large extent quite unfair. Now as a single mum at 21 with a 3 and 4 year old we couldn't really be prouder of the way that Emily has taken on the responsibilities of parenthood - it would actually put to shame many two parent households. We do despair that the system in the UK does still not make things easy for single parents who want to break back into the employment market! ( this is not perhaps the time or place to air this?)
Emily of course knows that that there are always family members ( 3 generations ) near at hand to help out..... but everyone does this willingly as they respect the good job that this single mum is doing in running her household and bringing up her children...... single mums deserve much more of a better press and will always get it from this blogger.

27 02 2010

Today I took to the hockey pitch again as a stubborn if slightly overweight defender for Abergavenny against a fit Whitchurch team, we sadly came up short losing 5-1. Our opponents were worthy winners who play the game in a refreshing way.

I needed a strong coffee and later a hot bath to bring me around.........and I know that my legs will not feel like they belong to me for some days.
