This beautiful autumn leaf was found by Abi and Jaycob today outside their house in Llanfoist.

As I sit listening to the rain teaming down outside having been 'working'since 6pm (it is now 10.20)....my thoughts drift back to the beautiful blue sky in Cardiff Bay a few weeks back....is the summer really over? It must be so  as the leaves are beginning to turn red and gold.

The new washing machine finally arrived on time yesterday.......  I for one was mightily relieved. :-)

Today's image is of the city hire bikes in Cardiff.  When I returned home I managed a 10 mile bike ride myself  on the new machine. I rode as far as Abergavenny Castle were people were busy preparing for the weekend Food Festival.

Mmmm!!!! this was a day of flexi-leave. It would appear that at 7.30 pm IB laptop is still operating!

I did at least sort out my washing machine issue, it will now be delivered on Saturday which is quite a relief if still quite embarrassing. My car had its annual MOT today and including the work on replacing my driver electric window last week cost £450 ( gulp)...... I bought a lucky dip lottery ticket for £1 in order to try to recoup some of this......... I believe the odds are 14,000,000 to 1 against this occurring. 7.44pm time for some wine.... purely medicinal red of course :-)

Today's image is poignant as it is to remind me of a 'senior moment ' as I appear to have been operating under the delusion that tomorrow is 14th September. ...... this bubble was burst when I returned home to find a card left by the company which attempted to deliver our new washing machine today.....the 14th.

There of course was no one in, I had in advance booked leave for tomorrow in order to accept the delivery.......obviously tomorrow as I am now aware is not 14th.

I do hope that I am not losing my marbles????

It was yet another beautifully sunny day today. We visited Cardiff Bay where there was a food festival in Roald Dahl Plas. Our day included three hours in Techniquest and a visit to the planetarium for a trip to Mars.

Today's image is of the new hockey stick following my first practice with it. This is a great shot stick, so easy to time when on goal.....if I ever get that far up the pitch...... this however is unlikely as a centre back!!!!

I was so late home that in the twilight I couldn't even take my inaugural journey due to the increasing darkness..... I will try again tomorrow.

A timely image for today, those brave souls who have been following this blog over the past 2 months will have witnessed my re invention as a 'born again' cyclist. This follows my desire to get in some much needed exercise, this followed a worrying trip to the practice nurse at my local surgery back in in March when she warned me about my weight gain!!!! 
I resurrected my old 10 speed, steel framed bicycle from the shed following its 9 or 10 years of rest, purely for the purpose of  getting back out regularly for an hour of exercise on as many occasions as I could manage. The old bike is hard work, as you would expect and although it has seen me well to date I felt it time to get a bit more serious, hence last night I bought the above Carrera Ltd Edition, Subway from Halfords  on the internet at a very reasonable £254....... I will pick it up on Wednesday.
I  began hockey training ( 2 1/2 hours) every Thursday and have bought myself a new hockey stick, at £90 my most expensive ever!! 

I have also tried to improve my diet to include more fruit and fibre over the past 2 months.


These efforts appear timely as I was called to my doctor today in order to discuss the results of my tests back in March, chief amongst these was a big jump in my bad cholesterol count. This caused by lack of exercise and poor dietary choices since my previous tests back in 2006..... this coincides pretty well with my change from teaching to an office job and a reduction in my hockey commitments. 
I will now have to have a re test in two months time, when my hope is that the measures that I have put in place will show some improvements........ I do not wish to have to begin taking Statins!!!

Well look who was seen in and around The Grand Canyon .......................none other than Mini Dylan on his tour of the USA........ he is now home looking forward to his next journey.

Today was the day that we delivered Laura to her hall of residence in Liverpool. We had a stroll down to the city centre passing 'Eleanor Rigby' along the way.

It was an interesting journey which included the gear linkage on the car breaking in middle of Liverpool leaving me with only first and reverse gear......thank goodness for Norm' from the AA who arrived to save the day and make a repair within 30 minutes of our arrival .

Today's image is of Leigh and Jeff Brown our visitors from Yass north of Canberra as they reached the summit of Skirrid Fawr at 10am this morning. This early morning climb was followed by Raglan Castle and an afternoon at The Museum of Welsh Life, St Fagans. Leigh and Jeff are spending the night in Cardiff ahead of a flight to Scotland tomorrow.

Take a closer look at the number plate of this scary car seen near Cardiff Gate this morning!!!!

It was a fabulous day today in Wales, this was topped by finally meeting up with Paddy Brown's parents Leigh and Geoff for dinner at The Angel Hotel this evening........as they travel the UK on their whistle stop trip from Yass NSW.

Tomorrow, climbing The Skirrid Fawr, a visit to Raglan Castle, St. Fagans Museum and Cardiff Bay.... one busy day.
